Solitude

孤独

by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;

Weep,and you weep alone.

For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,

But has trouble enough of its own.

你欢笑,世界会随你一同欢笑;

你哭泣,却只有你独自一人悲啼;

Sing, and the hills will answer;

Sigh,it is loat on the air.

The echoes bound to a joyful sound,

But shrink from voicing care.

你唱歌,山谷应你以回响;

你叹息,空气答你以寂静;

Rejoice, the men will seek you;

Grieve, and they turn and go.

They want to measure of all your pleasure,

But they do not need your woe.

你欢喜,人们会与你相随;

你忧伤,人们则会转身离去;

Be glad, and your friends many;

Be sad, and you lose them all.

They are none to decline your nectared wine,

But alone you must drink life's gall.

快乐起来吧,你会有很多朋友;

feast, and your halls are crowded;

fast, and the world goes by.

succeed and give,and it helps you live,

But no man can help you die.

热闹盛宴,厅内人声鼎沸;

There is room in the halls of pleasure

For a long lordly train,

But one by one we must all file on

Through the narrow aiseles of pain.
