Time Management 182 - The Appy System of Tools

Hello everyone, this is Helen Huang @ Organizing, based in Beijing, China. In order to better learn and practice the YiXiaoNeng Time Management System, after finished publishing 100 Chinese articles, I decided to continue writing and publishing a daily English article in another 100 days based on the "YeWuBin Time Management 100 Episodes" audio program. Today is the 182nd day.

Today's topic is: The Appy System of Tools

In today's topic, let's talk about: the tool system I use--- the Apple System.

First, I will provide a preview of the whole system. If you don't like Apple, please feel free to skip this lesson. If you prefer tools using other systems, such as Android systems, then I will provide recommendations for reference purposes in future lessons. I want to point out also I have no relationship whatsoever whether personal or professional with Apple.

Each year I buy a new Apple phone and trade-in my previous Apple phone. I do this keep up with the technology.

Second, I like to buy other Apple equipment and hardware such as the Apple Watch. How do you choose the right Apple watch? Actually, it's not that hard. There are only two different sizes about Apple Watch, and the functions are the same. You can choose from many different band types and watch plates, but its function is the same.

If you're looking for function, then I should choose the larger one. In my view, it's more convenient and it is better in the long run. I don't think it's necessary to buy a fantastic watch band, the normal one it comes with will be ok.

The most important feature of the Apple watch is that it can connect with the iPhone. Information is not entered via the watch, but rather the phone, but the watch acts as a display which is very convenient.

Meanwhile, Siri is also available on the Apple watch, which is the function that I most often use.

Third, the Apple has a wireless internet hub called Airport, which allows you to use wireless Internet even if there is no wifi available. The great thing about this device is that we can take it around when traveling on business. We can use it at any time in the hotel anywhere to access to the Internet.

Fourth, I recommend a tool called Apple TV. This tool is really amazing. It's a black set-top device which allows us to project the content of our iPhone or iPad onto a television screen or projection screen. That's very useful and allows us to share information with others easily. I use it all the time in my classroom classes.

Fifth, I recommend a tool called "Time Capsule". It is a tool launched by Apple which acts as a backup system. It provides also wireless internet access. So what can it back up? It can back up the content from an Apple computer, such as the Mac. While the contents of our phone can be backed up in the Apple Cloud, Apple computers cannot. They must be backed up using this device.

Apple's MAC backup can only be processed in your office or at home using a Time Capsule. And this Time Capsule costs about 2,000 RMB or a little less than $300. If you have the Time Capsule, it can replace the Airport because it can also provide wireless internet access. So don't buy both of them. Unlike Airport, which is easy to carry, Time Capsule can only be used at home. So that's something to consider.

Now, let's talk about Apple's APP store, which is where you buy applications or you would call apps. I noticed that I mentioned it before, in the store you can find various tools and apps ranked by categories and ratings. I often check what content is being updated on my phone, because updates happen all the time and include features that I don't want to miss.

Sixth, you should buy iPhones and iPads that have the most storage, so you can store more and install more. Of course, if you buy the smaller iPhone and iPads, you will need to clean up your content from time to time to prevent it from running out of storage. Apple also has a cloud space, called iCloud. If you run out of storage, you can use iCloud to store data there too.

The Apple products may not be what you like. But if you're really serious about improving your time management skills, you will see this restructuring your life to accommodate these changes, then I encourage you to research this and see if it will be a good fit for you. Be willing to try new things. I hope you will ultimately convert to using the Apple system. Because I know it can be really effective and pushing you to be a better person in terms of time management.

That's all sharing today. Thank you being with me together. Have a wonderful day!
