Part 2

Describe a time you got up extremely early.

You should say:

· When it was

· What time you got up

· How you felt when you got up

· And explain why you got up early.

Presentation

All right! I'd like to describe the time when I decided to get up early to learn English. I used to stay up very late at night, playing video games or watching online videos. By the time I started to prepare for IELTS, I found that it was inefficient for me to study in the evening. I would wake up so late in the next morning and lose precious time. And the whole next day I would feel tired. So It was 2 months ago, when I made my decision to sleep early and to get up early. I set my alarm clock to 8 o'clock and went to bed around 11:00 pm. Incidentally, I woke up at around 5:30 in the morning and can't fall asleep again. After I was awake that day, I decided to get up and started to learn English. I felt so energetic and motivated because all of a sudden I got these extra 3 hours every day to work on my study. So even if it was the first time I saw the breaking of dawn, extremely early, I was glad I did. And maybe because of that, ever since that day, I regularly woke up around that time. The alarm clock was meaningless to me then.

Part 3

· How can students be motivated to get up early to study?

Well, to be honest, it is a matter of awareness of the importance of having a plan of our life. We can leave us a goal, a reward or a fancy present as an encouragement. But the biggest part is to realise that it is our own business and for the benefit of our own. We need to make ourselves more effective to plan our day. Before that, no students can take the issue seriously.

· What are the ways to ensure you get up on time?

Ah, well, it is simple. Use an alarm clock to set the time, and then it becomes a habbit. It is a recognised technique. after getting up at the time we want for about a week. It turned into a routine. Well, we hate routines, it is boring. but we can use smartphone apps to keep track of our routine, like punching a card on the app every day and we can post it on our social circle. It is a rewarding thing to do. Thus we can continue to keep this schedule. And after about a month, getting up on time is our new label.

· Would you recommend others to get up early if they want to work more efficiently?

Well, yes. I mean, if there problems is really about being on time or anything related to getting up early. I think the first thing they need to do is to assess their problems. Is it because they are doing it in the wrong way? Or simply, because they can't manage their time well? I mean, getting up early is a great way to feel energetic and organised, so that we can start to manage our work more efficiently. But I don't know if it is the best. So I am gonna recommend the method as a recognised skill but I think analysing the problem first is more important.

· Do people get up earlier or later than people 30 years ago?

Earlier, I believe. I think when people of my parents age were in my age as young adults, their life is more traditional, in a cultural way. They would get up very early like 6:30 and prepare for the day, for example, the breakfast, buying food materials for lunch and dinner in the early market. It is thought to be the right way to live in traditional Chinese culture, which is that the key of a day is in the morning. Of course, it is difficult for most young people now, including me. But I now agree to it, and start to get up early in the morning.

· Under what situations do people usually get up extremely early?

Well, mostly because of traveling. when we need to take the train to other places, we need to leave about an hour before the train leaves, for security check and boarding. And usually, train stations are far away from where we live. so we need an extra 2 hours for transport to the station. So if I am to get on a train that leaves at 9:00, I need to get up at about 5:00 to 5:30 to wash up and check everything. It is extremely early to me, so I usually pack up my luggage the day before. It is even true for taking a flight. I remembered the most extremely early time was that I had to get up at 4:00, 1 hour daily routine, 2 hours taxi to the airport, and 2 hours before boarding on the plane. It is exhausting.
