单词

• seaside
  （尤指作为度假地的）海滨，海边

• rocky
  多岩石的，遍布岩石的，也可以表示局势、关系不稳定的，不稳固的，困难重重的，英文解释为：A rocky situation or relationship is unstable and full of difficulties.
     After a rocky start, the show is now very popular.
     这档节目一开始并不顺利，但现在已经很受欢迎了。
     Greenspan predicts a rocky road ahead for the economy.
     格林斯潘预言经济会面临重重困难。

• rock pool
  （海边岩石间的）潮水潭

• glitter
  闪烁，闪亮，复习一下：
     All that glitters is not gold.
     会发光的不一定是金子。

• pinch
  可作动词表示拧，捏，掐，也可作名词，表示一撮，少量：
      ……a pinch of nutmeg
     一撮肉豆蔻
  有一个很有意思的短语——
  

   You have to take what he says with a pinch of salt.
   他的话你可不能全信。

• sideways
  副词，表示往（从、向）一侧
     She twisted her head sideways and looked towards the door……
     她侧头朝门看去。
     He looked sideways at her.
     他斜着眼看她。

• fossil
  化石

• trap
  作动词表示抓捕，诱捕，使困住，使受限制
     I feel trapped in my job.
     我觉得被工作缠住了。
  也可以作名词，表示困境，窘境。
     The Government has found it's caught in a trap of its own making.
     政府发现自己 作茧自缚。

• lean
  前俯（或后仰），倾斜：When you lean in a particular direction, you bend your body in that direction。
  Facebook首席运营官Sheryl Sandberg出版过一本书叫《Lean In》，中文译名为《向前一步》，在书中Sheryl分享了很多自身的故事，也提出了很多对全球性别问题的看法，感兴趣的小伙伴可以找来看一下呀~

• capsule
  （口服）胶囊；(医用或科学研究用的)密封小容器

• comic
  作形容词表示滑稽的，好笑的，喜剧的，作名词表示连环画杂志，漫画书，或者叫comic book

• dig
  挖，挖掘，还有一个引申短语叫dig deep（into sth），表示细查，探究……
     The enquiry dug deeper into the alleged financial misdeeds of his government……
     这一调查对其政府涉嫌的财政违规行为展开了进一步深究。
     I want you to dig deep. Find out who she is, and where she came from.
     我想让你彻底调查一下，弄清她是谁，从哪里来的。

• videotape
  录像带，录影带，也可以作动词表示把……录在录影带上。
     She videotaped the entire trip.
     她录下了整个行程。

• squeaky
  嘎吱作响的，发出刺耳声音的
     ……squeaky floorboards
     嘎吱作响的地板
     He had a squeaky voice.
     他的声音很尖。

短语

• happen to sb
  尤指不愉快的事情发生在……身上，（某人）遭到，遇到……
     If we had been spotted at that point, I don't know what would have happened to us……
     如果当时我们被发现了，我不知道会有什么后果。

• a stroke of luck
  一件（幸运的）事儿，也可以说a piece of luck, 或a bit of luck
     It didn't rain, which turned out to be a stroke of luck.
     天没下雨，结果成了件幸事。
     By a stroke of luck, she had spotted the book on a colleague's bookshelf.
     真巧，她在一个同事的书架上找到了那本书。
